NanoFe TM

AN INNOVATIVE REMEDIATION TECHNOLOGY

FOR SOILS AND GROUNDWATER

§                     NanoFe are submicron (<10-6m) nano particles of zero valent iron

§                     NanoFe rapidly destroys recalcitrant contaminants in-situ or ex-situ. This
is based on the redox process where the contaminant serves as the electron acceptor

§                     NanoFe can be injected by gravity or under pressure

TREATABLE BY NanoFe TECHNOLOGY

CONTAMINANTS:    GEOLOGIC CONDITIONS:

Halogenated aliphatics              Sand
(TCE, PCE, DCE, VC)               Silt
Halogenated aromatics              Fractured Rock
PCBs                                           Landfills
Halogenated herbicides             Fill Materials
& pesticides                                Sediments
Nitroaromatics

Metals (e.g. Cr+6, As)

ADVANTAGES OF NanoFe TECHNOLOGY

§      Treats both the dissolved plume and source areas
§      No depth limitations
§      Highly reactive – rapid degradation and no toxic intermediates
§      Portable – low capital and O&M costs
§      Easily injected; NanoFe flows with groundwater
§      Low NanoFe / contaminant ratios required
